Privacy policy
Keystride is a touch typing tutor. This page explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. You don't need an account, and we don't sell your personal information.
Your typing stays on your device
What you type in lessons, tests and your own practice text, your results, key statistics, streak and settings are processed and stored only on your computer or phone. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else. On Android, the practice field turns off keyboard suggestions and autocorrect; your keyboard app's own data handling is covered by its own policy.
Pro licence on Windows (Lemon Squeezy)
Keystride Pro is sold by our reseller Lemon Squeezy. The checkout page inside the app is Lemon Squeezy's own page; your payment details go directly to Lemon Squeezy and its payment processors, and we never see them. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.
When you activate a key, check it, or free a seat, the app sends Lemon Squeezy your licence key and your computer's name (to label the seat), and receives an activation ID. After activation the app checks the key in the background when it starts; if you are offline, Pro keeps working.
Advertising on Android (Google AdMob)
Keystride for Android is free and shows optional rewarded videos (to unlock extras for the day) and occasional full-screen ads between drills, never while you type, through Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- your device's advertising ID and other device identifiers,
- approximate location derived from your IP address,
- information about how you interact with ads, and basic device and app information.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time in Settings under Ad privacy choices, and you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Android settings. Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
The Windows version shows no ads.
Analytics
The app includes Google Firebase Analytics, which is switched off in this version: it sends nothing. If we turn it on in a later version, it will record anonymous usage events (such as a finished drill and its speed) with an app-instance ID, and we will update this page before that release.
Reminders
On Android, the optional evening practice reminder is scheduled on your phone. No server is involved, and you can turn it off in Settings.
Links to the stores
"Rate Keystride" and "More apps from us" open Google Play or the Microsoft Store. Those stores handle your visit under their own policies.
This website
This site uses no analytics, sets no cookies and loads its fonts from itself. The demo videos load from YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) only when you press play; YouTube may then set cookies under its own policy. The typing box on the home page runs in your browser and sends nothing.
Children
Keystride is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Parents who install it for a child can use the Windows version, which shows no ads.
Security and retention
Licence and ad requests travel over encrypted connections and are kept according to Lemon Squeezy's and Google's policies. Data on your device stays until you clear it or uninstall the app.
Your choices
- Use Keystride fully offline; only Pro activation needs the internet, once.
- Free a Pro seat from Settings (Keystride Pro > Free this seat).
- Change ad consent in the Android app's Settings > Ad privacy choices (where offered), or reset your advertising ID in Android settings.
- Delete your progress by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its effective date.
